Terms of Service
Effective 2026-08-26.
These terms are between you and Rewound.gg (“we”, “us”), who operate Rewound at rewound.gg. Using the service means you accept them. If you don’t, don’t use it.
The Acceptable Use Policy, the Privacy Policy and the Copyright page are part of these terms.
1. Who may use Rewound
You must be at least 16. We don’t verify it — you’re stating it by using the service. If we find out an account belongs to someone younger, we close it and delete its content.
2. Your account is yours alone
One account, one person. Don’t share your sign-in, don’t sell or rent the account, and don’t hand it to someone else. Anything done from your account counts as done by you, so keep the password to yourself.
If you think someone else has got in, tell us at support@rewound.gg. You can also sign out everywhere from your account settings, which kills every session at once.
3. This is early software
Rewound isn’t finished. Features will change, some will go away, and the service will be down sometimes without warning. A clip you uploaded here could be lost.
Which is survivable, because the app keeps every original recording on your own computer. Treat what’s here as the copy you share, never as the only copy you have.
4. What the software does, and what it doesn’t send
The app records to your own computer. Nothing reaches us until you choose to share a clip. We don’t analyse, index or train on your recordings, and we never see the ones you don’t share.
5. Your content
Your clips are yours. Uploading one lets us store it, convert it where we have to, and send it to people who open its link. That is the whole licence. It exists so the service can work, and it ends when the clip is deleted or expires.
You’re responsible for what you upload, including having the right to upload it. What may not go up is on the Acceptable Use Policy.
6. What you may not do with the app
The Rewound app is ours and it isn’t open source. Don’t decompile it, pull it apart, or patch it to get around what it will and won’t record. Don’t rent it out, resell it, or ship it inside something else.
Where the law where you live gives you a right to do some of this anyway — usually so other software can work with it — that right wins and this section doesn’t override it.
7. How long clips are kept
Every shared clip has an expiry date on its page, set by the tier it was uploaded on. On paid tiers, watching a clip pushes its expiry out, up to a limit. When a plan ends, clips already uploaded keep the expiry they were given — downgrading never deletes anything retroactively.
If your library hits its storage limit, we may expire your least-recently-watched clip to make room for a new one, and the response tells you which. Sharing should never fail because an old clip is still popular.
8. When we hide a clip, or close an account
We can stop serving a clip, stop an account uploading, or close it. The grounds:
- content that breaks the Acceptable Use Policy or the law;
- getting around limits, quotas or a ban — including by making new accounts;
- repeated upheld copyright complaints;
- anything that puts the service, or other people using it, at real risk;
- a court or a law telling us to.
Clips reported by several people stop being served while a person reviews them. A clip reported as illegal stops immediately. Every decision is logged with its reason, and where we can we’ll tell you what happened and why — write to support@rewound.gg if you think we got it wrong. Child sexual abuse material is the exception: immediate, permanent, no appeal.
Repeated breaches disable uploading and then ban the account, on the thresholds published in the Acceptable Use Policy. That is also our repeat-infringer policy for copyright, and the Copyright page explains how notices work here — which is not the same thing as a takedown.
9. If we shut the service down
You keep every original recording on your own computer, so there’s no library here to lose. If we discontinue Rewound we’ll give at least 90 days’ notice and a bulk export of everything you’ve uploaded before anything is deleted. Paid subscriptions get cancelled and any unused prepaid time refunded.
10. Paying for it
There’s nothing to buy yet. No checkout, no card taken, no account charged. When paid plans open, this is how they work.
- Paddle sells them and is the merchant of record. Your payment contract is with them, they handle tax, and their refund policy covers the transaction.
- A plan renews every period until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next charge, and you keep the plan until the period you’ve paid for runs out.
- If a price changes we’ll email you first, and the new price only starts at your next renewal. Cancel before then and it never applies.
- A failed payment drops you to the free tier. Clips already uploaded keep the expiry they were given.
11. Ideas you send us
Bug reports, feature requests, complaints about the wording on this page — all welcome. If we act on one, we’re not paying for it and we’re not treating it as a secret. You keep whatever rights you have in the idea. You’re just letting us use it.
12. Our name and logo
Rewound, the logo and the rewind mark are ours, and using the service doesn’t give you a licence to them. Saying your clip is on Rewound is fine. Putting our mark on your own product, or anything that suggests we made it or endorse it, isn’t.
13. No warranty, and what we’re liable for
The service is provided as it is. We don’t promise it will be uninterrupted, and we don’t promise a clip will still be there tomorrow beyond the retention we’ve described. Keep your originals. The software is built for exactly that.
Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law. Subject to that, our total liability to you is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
14. If we get sued over something you did
If someone brings a claim against us because of what you uploaded, shared or did here, you cover what it costs us to deal with it, legal fees included. Not where the fault was ours, and not where the law where you live doesn’t allow it. We’ll tell you about a claim promptly and won’t settle one in your name without asking you.
15. Things nobody controls
Power cuts, a failure at a provider we depend on, natural disasters, war, a government order. We’re not liable for an outage caused by something like that. We’ll say what happened.
16. The boring but necessary bits
- If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
- These terms and the pages they link to are the whole agreement between us. Nothing said anywhere else overrides them.
- Not enforcing something once doesn’t mean we’ve given it up.
- You can’t transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. We can, if the business is sold or restructured, and we’ll post notice here before it takes effect.
- Sections 5, 13, 14 and 18 keep applying after your account is closed.
17. Changes
We may change these terms. For a change that materially reduces your rights we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice by email, where we have an address for you. Carrying on using the service after that is how you accept it. If you’d rather not, close your account.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you’re a consumer somewhere with its own consumer protection rules, those rules still apply to you — this section doesn’t take them away.
19. Contact
Contact details are here, including a postal address.
